A DYING MOUSE
I just caught a dying mouse in my room and put him outside. It was a bit nerve racking. I say that he was dying because he was just sitting on my floor breathing deeply and didn't really react when I came close to catch him in a cup. I slid a letter underneath and walked him downstairs. He was moving around and it made my heart rate go up. After I put him down I noticed a tiny spot of blood on the envelope. Upon returning to my room I discovered another little bit of blood. Its pretty sad, I have no idea what happened to him. At least I got him outside though. I think I might go take a little nap or do something mellow. It was finally sunny today, it warmed me up and made me remember why Colorado summers can be so nice. I have my window open, it smells so good outside. But it always does. I love stepping out of my house just for the air. And I also rather like this:
Great color.

TEETH
I just got back from the dentist. Apparently the patient before me was a four year old who was visiting the dentist for the first time. He thought he was a vampire.

UTAH RADIO
I had a radio show today. I think it went fairly well... I was a little stumbly with my words at first... but I had three people tell me that it was a good show. One of the guys called the station just to tell me thanks for playing one of his favorite "tunes." That is always great, when people call in to let you know they like what they hear. Actually I think I had a few really good sets, my last one in particular. It was a two hour show so it had a lengthy playlist. My dad said it was a good show when I called him afterward, and he is always honest. So I'm going to say it was successful. That said, I have never had a flawless show, there is always something... but I don't mind much. Some things can give it character I suppose. I just got back from Utah. We drove six and a half hours straight so I could be back for radio. It was a good trip though. We did a bit of hiking around as usual and returned to Antelope Island. We had another slightly bizare climb over the hill and ran into a giant buffalo on the way down. He was sleeping. We also hiked up this winding narrow road up to a trail in Mill Creek Canyon. The road was lined with little summer cabins tucked away in lush green vegitation. (I guess they could be used as cross country ski or winter cabins as well but they looked like old summer cabins from the 60s, well most of them.) My dad and I picked out the ones we liked the most, though I wasn't really crazy about any of them, and then discussed what we would do. We decided on a modern cabin with either a parkitecture (national park architecture style) or mining style twist and big windows/skylights. It would be sustainable and easy to maintain with a garden and plants surrounding the place and a place to store things, like the little buggy we would have. Before we went up Mill Creek, we went to this great brunch place called Ruthie's up in a different canyon... the name escapes me. They had great food and fantastic pictures of Ruthie, this little old lady with a dog and a cigarette in her hand. I wish I had snapped a shot of one of her in the kitchen. Though it rained quite a bit (seems that this is the summer of rain for us...) it was a good trip. I'm ready to set out on a camping expedition soon. Utah is really a great state, there are all kinds of things hidden there.

WOODSTOCK
I love this photo. My dad and I were watching Woodstock tonight on VH1 Classic. We've watched it quite a few times and my dad always has the same reactions. Its interesting because Lewis Teague (director of Cujo, The Jewel of the Nile and few others) worked on it along with Martin Scorsese. Lewis was one of my film teachers and would talk to us about going to school with Martin and on one occasion, the making of Woodstock. My dad and I will chat about certain obstacles that the filmmakers had while watching it (such as the inability to be able to communicate, they had some kind of headset walkie talkie system that was blown out I think... and there were a ton of people, and it was really loud...) and always get excited when we see his name in the credits. Anyway, the real motivation of this post comes in the form of Sly and the Family Stone who put on a fantastic performance. The last half of it in particular when the band goes all in and they have the wonderful horns blaring. I also enjoy the dance that the two guitarists do, along with their garb, one of them has a fantastic hat. They also have this black woman in a blond wig dancing which is fab. They are just great musicians and they put on a great show.
There is a theatrical movie about Woodstock coming out this year called Taking Woodstock. It looks like they have a few of the famous scenes from the doc... such as the nuns giving the peace sign. I really love the Woodstock icon and while searching for a photo of it I was reminded how many people were there. It is insane.

RAMBLINGS
So upon viewing this website I felt a need to share it, because it is wonderful and awesome. So click here. Lets see... what else... well I was violently ill for a day and a night basically, a twenty four hour flu that was really terrible. I can't remember the last time I was that sick, everything hurt, I had a crazy fever that turned me red and I couldn't digest anything. But luckily, it was short lived. Ah, I just remembered this as well, click here too. I have been wanting to paint and draw and such lately, I think that will be my reward once I clear most of my stuff out of the way... I also need to go to the library and watch my netflix (which I've had since I left Boston...) and figure out where I can develop my 120 film. Speaking of film, Lorraine has managed to track down more Polaroid film! She has quite a knack for tracking down absolutely fantastic things. She has also provided me with wonderful items on many occasions (such as the painting hanging on my wall.)

Ah, here is another cool thing having to do with film... click this. Of course it is lomo. And on the subject of film, I need to call Alec, I was recently sent a copy of a Film Two that I worked on that came out really well. I was a AC, but I should show it to Alec (my film teacher in high school and the one who introduced me to filmfests, which lead to radio which lead to all my amazing lovely friends, which lead to more films, which lead to film school and so on, for those who don't know), seeing that I owe him a lot. Hmm... that reminds me of all the filmfest stuff that I still have... I really need to get that back into the high school... I should have done it while Sofa was still there. It probably doesn't matter a ton now, but Kitty (the librarian who is the advisor for Student Filmfest) would like to have it I know.

MARIE ANTIONETTE
I really like this scene from Marie Antoinette was reminded of it recently...
I am also including the trailer because there are some good bits in there as well... such as a piece of the fan sex scene.

SMOKE, RAIN AND LILACS
I have five billion things that I could be doing, so of course I am writing five billion postcards to send to everyone I like who has given me their address. Mail is such a wonderful thing though, and I really enjoy postcards... so I suppose that this can all be considered for a greater good. I saw Up with Jane tonight.
We had a rather nice date actually, soup and salads at the Bistro followed by a trip to Heirlooms, where I got this necklace.
Then we went to Jane's for a bit and watched music videos and half of Stagecoach on TCM before heading out to the movies. I really really liked it... Up that is, it was really simple and delightful. I came home afterward in hopes of tackling the last pile from unpacking (I somehow managed to unpack my suitcases and put all my clothes away and unpack my boxes, the content of which now are piled on my floor...) but of course I got distracted. I would like to be able to actually get up early and deal with it then, but I most likely will not do that, I work better at night most of the time anyway. When I was walking up to my house I smelled the most interesting and yet somehow remotely familiar scent of smoke, rain and lilacs.
