WHISPERS

The bottle caps litter my windowsill

and remind me of nights with you.

I breathe you in and try to hold on.

Even while we're slipping.

A laminated card sits on my desk

preserving text neatly in plastic.

I think of words to send

and hope they will arrive

with a bit of me between the spaces.

The vibration of your voice

fills my room and I remember

your handwriting.

Something that feels so lovely

is missing but I dream of running fingers

through locks of hair.

The sun on my face.

Grainy photographs.

Light on buildings

and the way your bathroom felt.

Looking at sheets while time slides

into morning.

Tree branches cradling

something that will be lost

and I wonder

if you still like the sound of my voice

and if you miss me.

I LOVE THIS

THE NIGHT BEFORE

I have plenty of things I could be doing but naturally the internet is far to distracting for me to pay any attention to them. Last night I was on set from 5pm to 5am. We shot in Mansfeild (I think) which is about 30 minutes outside of the city. The shoot wasn't too bad, though it was brutally cold outside. We did have a fire in a barrel due to the fact that we were filming a homeless scene which was nice to stand by between shots. Here is a production still via Matt Figler's blackberry (and facebook): I ended up eating a ton because our lovely producers kept serving us food and hot drinks and today I am quite full still. We drove back to the city expecting to see the sunrise but I guess it doesn't occur until closer to seven. When we got back I sat with Figz and talked about our grandmas while we waited for the producers to tell us where to park Evan's car. Then we went into a crazy parking garage that had a car wash in it and that spit us out all the way by the Paramount building which made for a colder walk back. I slept in late today. Here is this fantastic photo that Emma took:

A CHAT BUBBLE

When I have time I would like to write a bit about Nantucket but in the meantime I have a lot of work to catch up on. I did want to share this though because it was just a nice thing to receive and I have been feeling a little lost and vulnerable these days. Its not something I normally share with the entire internet, but I think its a good thing to document for myself.

REPEAT

Okay. So not to be ridiculous. And post this on both blogs. And post this after Keighley. But seriously. This music video is brilliant. Enough so that I need to blab on about the framing for a little bit. First the beginning frame is a wonderful use of foreground, middleground and background and action coming into frame. Its like the dance floor scene in Loves of a Blonde (which is a wonderfully shot film as well. Watch it.) And then there is a ballerina on the left side of the frame through most of it who is kinda separated from the rest and cut off of a bit from the frame, it is SO BRILLIANT and wonderful. Its like those photographs that are made by the little extras at the edge of the frame. I'm sure Lauren Shaw, my photo teacher, would be into it. I mean just look at the freeze frame on the paused video, the ballerina on the right is cut off half way through her face but it is fantastic. In addition all of the overheads are slightly cropped or to the side and it works so well. The framing is just mesmerizing and inspiring to me and my cinematography head. I also have to say the colors are fantastic. As is the set and costume design. I need to know who shot this.
